On August 23, 1926, history was made when 75 proud residents cast their votes, unanimously, to incorporate what was then called Country Club Estates. The vision belonged to none other than aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss, who imagined a community unlike any other in South Florida.Just a few years later, our hometown embraced a new name, Miami Springs, in honor of the natural springs that nourished our city until the mid-1990s. From the very beginning, our story has been one of innovation, resilience, and community spirit. Born out of the roaring 1920s land boom, Miami Springs became one of Florida’s very first planned communities. And as the aviation industry took flight, so did our city, our growth forever tied to the pioneering work of Curtiss and the bustling airports that surrounded us. Today, nearly 100 years later, we celebrate the bold dream that brought our city to life and the generations who helped shape Miami Springs into the beloved hometown it is.
